
(CNN Spanish) — The vice president of Panama José Gabriel Carrizo made official this Monday his intentions to govern that country, by delivering the documents to compete as a presidential candidate in the internal elections of the group in power, the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).
Jose Gabriel Carrizo, who was also Minister of the Presidency, resigned from this last position on February 1 and days later, on February 5, he announced his political aspirations to become the PRD presidential candidate for the general elections on February 5. May 2024.
Carrizo is the first member of that party to present documentation. The PRD primary elections are next June 11. The president of Panama Laurentino Cortizo was not present at the political activity.
