The third season of The Mandalorian has started out spectacularly, with several great action scenes and a very good character development. Leaving this aside, there is a specific sequence that may have gone unnoticed by many, but it has caught my attention. In a certain moment Grogu and Din go into hyperspace in order to travel to Navarro and along the way we see that little Yoda looks with interest at some strange luminous figures. Next, I explain why this meeting is much more important than it seems:
What has Grogu seen in hyperspace?
- As they’re on their way to Navarro at the speed of light, Grogu observes some strange creatures that seem to move through this dimension..❓
- These animals are called purrgils and they are a species of space whales.🐋🌌
- Yes, you have read correctly, according to the canon of Star Warsthe scientists who created hyperspace travel were inspired by them when building the ships.⚡
- They also served as a guide for the first colonists who entered deep space.✅
This is the first time we have seen the purrgils in the live-action of Star Warsbut they had previously appeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. During the plot of rebels we see how Jedi Ezra Bridger manages to form a connection with the whales by means of the Force and discovers that they are not hostile. This relationship could be very important for Ahsoka, the next series that will take place in the universe of the franchise.
Why are purrgils crucial to the future of Star Wars?
During the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels we saw how the cast faced the Grand Admiral Thrawn. During the battle, Bridger used the force to summon the purrgils and take the enemy ship to an unexplored place in space known as the Unknown Regions. In the final scene we see that Ashoka and Sabine Wren vow to find Ezra and season 2 of The Mandalorian It seemed to indicate that the Jedi intends to keep her promise.
Most likely we will see the continuation of this plot in the series of Ashoka. The only way to find Bridger would be going back to harness the powers of the purrgils so that they take the jedi to the ends of the galaxy. In this way, it is very likely that we will see the special whales again very soon, now that they have already been introduced in live-action. The most certain thing is that the Ahsoka series arrives in the fall of this same 2023.
