Rome – “Women are the largest share of the laity and of the people engaged in ecclesial life. For this reason, responding to the repeated and heartfelt appeals of Pope Francis, I believe the time has come to initiate processes capable of providing answers to the urgent requests for a greater valorisation of women as baptized women and members of the People of God with equal dignity, so as to expand the spaces for female participation in the ecclesial mission”.

With these words the Bishop Gianrico Ruzza extends his invitation to all the women of the diocese of Porto-Santa Rufina at the event “Listening to women”, which will take place on 4 March at 4.30 pm at the pastoral center of Porto-Santa Rufina in via della Storta 783 in Rome.

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the diocese of Porto-Santa Rufina in its synodal journey “intends to pay particular attention to women and the reflection on women in the Church are part of the great journey of listening, dialogue and dreaming for the future convoked by Pope Francis, which aims at renewing the way of being Church”.

The initiative is open to every woman “believer or non-believer, practicing or not, it doesn’t matter” remarked the pastor in the letter. “The synodal meeting in March – he concludes –, in fact, it will be an opportunity to listen to everyone’s opinions and suggestions, to dialogue together with sincerity and freedom on what feelings characterize the sufferings and expectations of women in social life and in the Church”.
