Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of China-Russia bilateral relations in stabilizing the world situation.

“Cooperation in the international arena between China and Russia (…) is very important for the stabilization of the international situation,” Vladimir Putin declared during a meeting on Wednesday with Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission. of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, reviewed Sputnik.

Also, Putin highlighted the progress of Russian-Chinese relations, and that the countries reach new frontiers.

“I would like to note that Russian-Chinese relations are developing as planned in previous years. Everything progresses, everything develops. We are reaching new milestones », he stressed.

In addition, the President of Russia noted that his country cooperates in all other spheres: in the humanitarian sphere, in international organizations, including the United Nations, the Security Council (of which Russia is a permanent member), and in the BRICS, the Shanghai organization.

The Russian head of state also estimated that trade between the two countries would reach 200 billion dollars before next year.

“Our goal was to reach (trade) 200,000 million dollars in 2024. (…) there are reasons to believe that we will achieve our trade objectives, perhaps even sooner than expected,” he said.

For its part, China reaffirms its readiness to strengthen strategic cooperation with Moscow in all areas in the interests of our countries and the world, Wang Yi said.

“We are ready to deepen mutual political trust and strategic cooperation with the Russian side and broadly expand practical cooperation (…) to safeguard the interests of our countries, as well as to promote the development of the whole world,” he said.

Putin and Wang discussed Ukraine

Wang Yi also expressed that China appreciates Russia’s willingness to resolve the Ukrainian crisis through dialogue.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in talks with the Russian president, Wang said he “appreciated the fact that Russia had confirmed its willingness to resolve the problem through dialogue and negotiations.”

The statement notes that Putin and Wang “had an in-depth exchange of views on the Ukraine issue.” Wang himself assured that Beijing “will continue to maintain an objective and fair position” and “play a constructive role in the political solution of the crisis.”

Hours earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that Moscow and Beijing are ready to mutually defend their interests on the international scene.
