For the breakdown, print manga sales came in at 229.1 billion yen, down 13.4 percent from last year. Sales of tankobon manga in 2022 reached 175.4 billion yen, down 16 percent from the previous year, and sales of manga magazines were at 53.7 billion yen, down 3.8 percent from last year as well.
Digital sales in the overall manga market were 66.2 percent. Total digital sales were up 8.9 percent from last year to 447.9 billion yen, but that was 18.6 percent less than 2021’s increase compared to 2020.
